Traveling on foot through some of the most rugged desert terrain in the world, Ted Cox with his dog Coy, desperately try to make it to the Quarter Circle U Ranch in the Superstition Mountain. Ted is seriously ill and his dog's feet are blistered from the hot desert floor. Finally arriving at the ranch, he inadvertently overhears a plot to murder Adolf Ruth, a man who has come to search for the illusive Lost Dutchman Mine. While trying to prevent Ruth's murder, Ted becomes entwined in a high stakes journey filled with mystery and scandal, when he also learns of a more sinister plan, which began when Arizona was still a territory.

Superstition Mountain: A Ride Through Time

Zig Zag Canyon
The Legend of Gold Gulch
Ron Feldman and Mic McPherson

The Apaches called it "squaw's metal." But the mountain men, drawn to the wilderness now called Arizona in a quest for exploration and discovery, called it gold. It was plentiful in the early 1800's and one mine in particular - the Lost Adams Diggin's - was one of the most notorious. There were other mines, including the Lost Dutchman, but this one held special appeal. Why did it take 150 years to resolve its location? And what did it take to uncover the historical information needed to locate Adams' "zigzag" canyon? What did the authors discover that instilled in them a special kinship with those early explorers and to the natives who were only defending their lands? Here is a story that is richer than gold - one that has to be told."Violent authenticity makes ZIGZAG CANYON a great reading experience." - Donald Hamilton, Author of the celebrated MATT HELM series.

The Authors met in 1973 when Mic McPherson's prospecting group rented horses from Ron Feldman's O.K. Corral Stables. A friendship developed and Mic and Ron are now engaged in the continuing quest for lost mines and the history they entail. The unique blend of Feldman's storytelling and McPherson's detail sparks this story, the first in a series.

Ron Feldman was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, but always dreamed of the west. Legends of lost gold mines and Zane Grey's western stories drew him to Arizona in 1968. He established Superstition's O.K. Corral Stables. This outfitting and guide service is located in the foothills of infamous Superstition Mountain and is one of the most successful stables in the southwest. An authority on lost mine lore and regional history, Ron has appeared many times on national television and is a guest lecturer at Central Arizona College.

Mic McPherson, born and raised in the US west, has been referred to as a "Renaissance Man" but his lifelong fascination with lost gold mine lore led him to study geology and history. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Geology from Mesa State College, Grand Junction, Colorado. His efforts in writing college-course term papers sparked an interest and he is now a well published author with articles appearing in special interest national magazines such as Modern Gold Miner.
