Help us celebrate the return of the big trains!
After spending the summer being cleaned, repainted, and refurbished, the Superstition Mountain Museum Railroad, a 400+ square foot “G” model railroad exhibit, is back for the fall season.
The exhibit represents how railroads played a major role in the development of the state and the “C’s” upon which Arizona’s economy is built – copper, cotton, cattle, climate, and citrus. Interactive exhibits, vendors, and food.
Several local model railroading groups will be set up on the grounds with some of their model displays. The Arizona Big Train Operators will be bringing Thomas the Tank Engine with them again. This is a layout featuring the famous engine that the kids will be able to help operate. There will be some N scale modules, presented by the Short Line RR Club, set up on the patio, with some really cool hand built buildings.
The Stamp Mill will also be running today at 11:00.
From 10 to 12, enjoy the bluegrass music of local band “One Heart at a Time” in the back of the barn.
Our volunteers will be selling raffle tickets to several gift baskets our Museum staff have prepared. Tickets will $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.
Tickets for our annual season-long raffle will go on sale beginning today. This year’s raffle prize is a 1/4 oz gold nugget. Tickets can be purchased for $1.00 or six for $5.00. the drawing will be held at the conclusion of Dan Ware’s lecture on March 29th, 2018. You need not be present to win!
